Yatagarasu is produced by Kitaoka Honten, founded in 1868 in Yoshino, Nara Prefecture, a town that served as Japan's first capital in the 8th century and sits at the eastern end of the ancient Silk Road. The brewery grew out of a family business in soy sauce, oil, and sake, transformed when one of its sons turned toward crafting drinks that express the botanical richness of the immediate natural environment. Kitaoka Honten products are now recognized across Japan for the precision with which they convey natural plant-based scents.
