Tenryohai Sake Brewery, founded in 1983 on the island of Sado in Niigata Prefecture, produces sake from Koshitanrei rice grown in the unpolluted environment of Sado, combined with water from Mt. Kinpoku, Sado's highest peak. The brewery's philosophy of Ryoshujouwa, meaning that good sake creates harmony, guides its approach to brewing and hospitality. Tenryohai has won a first prize in the daiginjo category at the International Sake Festival held in London, as well as seven gold medals at the Annual Japan Sake Awards.
