Mourishuzo is the only sake brewery among the Fukui Sake Brewers Association members founded during the Showa period, established in 1938 in Togo, Fukui City. The brewery's flagship brand Sari takes its name from the Sanskrit word for rice, which is also the origin of shari, the Japanese term for sushi rice, reflecting a philosophy of seamless harmony with Japanese cuisine. Under the fourth-generation brewmaster Keisuke, Mourishuzo has developed modern label designs for overseas markets and expanded exports to Southeast Asia, where the sake's food-pairing character has found a receptive audience.
