Chichibunishiki has been brewed in Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture, since 1749, making it one of the oldest operating breweries in the Kanto region. The brewery's sake production center, Sake Zukuri no Mori, is surrounded by forested hills and houses a museum tracing the brewery's 270-year history; the brand won first prize at the national sake fair for seven consecutive years starting in 2002.
