Wakakoma Shuzo, located in Inami, Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture, has been brewing since 1889 at the foot of Zuisenji Temple, using the clear snowmelt water of the Shogawa River system. The Wakagoma brand takes its name from the founders' wish for their sake to soar skyward like a young foal leaping to the heavens, broadly loved throughout the region. Junmai expressions aimed at everyday drinking have built the brand's local following, while premium ginjo styles are released under the Yaotome sub-label.
