Yukutoshi Kurutoshi is a seasonal limited release from Asahi-Shuzo Sake Brewing Co., Ltd. in Nagaoka, Niigata, timed to the turning of the year and made entirely with locally grown Gohyakumangoku rice harvested that autumn. The sake is brewed as a ginjo in the brewery's characteristic clean, dry style, with a restrained aroma, bright freshness, and the sharp finish associated with the Asahi-Shuzo house character. The name, meaning the departing year and the arriving year, frames the sake as a contemplative toast at the close of each December.
