Sakura is produced by Sakurauzumaki Shuzo, founded in 1871 by the Shinohara family in Hojo, on the northern edge of Matsuyama in Ehime Prefecture. The brewery's name draws from a cherry blossom mountain owned by the family and the beloved serial novel Uzumaki, adopted by the third generation. Brewing water is drawn from Mt. Takanawa's groundwater, and most rice comes from local Hojo fields, guided by the philosophy that sake is made by the blessings of heaven, earth, and people.
