Kanbai Sake Brewery, founded in 1912 in Osaki City, Miyagi, sits within the Osaki Kodo grain-farming district recognized as a World Agricultural Heritage site, and the brewery operates as a cultivation-to-brewing operation, growing roughly 20% of its own sake rice on-site. After the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake destroyed the brewery, it was rebuilt in 2013 with nationwide support, and production resumed with a policy of brewing exclusively pure rice sake. The brewery's Miyamagiku junmai ginjo has been selected for ANA international first-class and business-class service and has been exported to Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore for nearly two decades.
