West Kinryo Corp., established in 1789 in Kotohira Town, Kagawa Prefecture, has brewed Kinryo sake in the shadow of Kotohira-gu (Konpira-san) for over 230 years, making it the designated sacred sake supplier to one of Japan's most visited Shinto shrines. Known since the Edo period as Sanuki no Konpira sake, the brand uses locally grown Oseto rice and the shrine town's spring water, pursuing what the brewery describes as sake with fullness, roundness, and breadth.
