Founded in 1928 on the site of a temple that stood for over 500 years, Heiwa Shuzo is located in a cold mountain basin outside Kainan City in Wakayama Prefecture. The brewery's flagship brand KID takes its name from Kishu Fudo (the climate of historic Kishu), expressing the soft, clean water of Wakayama in a gentle, approachable style intended to introduce sake to new drinkers. Heiwa also produces the Tsuru-ume range of natural fruit liqueurs made in direct partnership with local Wakayama ume and yuzu farmers.
