Nakagawa Shuzo produces Fukujukai in Tottori Prefecture, and the brand's name derives from the noh chant Makura-jido, which speaks of immortality through fine sake, with Fukujukai meaning a sea of good fortune and long life. The brewery has also developed a second label, Inaba-Tsuru, since 1989 as a return to the regional roots of Tottori sake, and both brands are prized as accompaniments to the coastal cuisine of the San-in region, including squid and rock oyster. Fukujukai spans a range from junmai to daiginjo, with the daiginjo noted for a light, lively character.
