Atagonomatsu is the original flagship brand of Niizawa Sake Brewery, founded in 1873 in Miyagi Prefecture, named after the pine trees growing on sacred Mt. Atago and adopted in its current form in 1925. Niizawa ranked first in the World Sake Brewery Rankings in both 2022 and 2023, and Atagonomatsu is positioned within its portfolio as the brewery's definitive food sake, offering fuller flavor and greater complexity than the more internationally known Hakurakusei label. The range spans from an accessible sparkling expression to a jewel-polished junmai daiginjo.
