Tenko, meaning rainbow in the sky, is the original brand of Suruga Shuzojo, established in Shizuoka City after the brewery was reorganized in the mid-2000s and relocated to Suruga Ward. Using water from the Abe River, designated one of Japan's top 100 natural waters, the brewery presses all sake through traditional cloth bags for clarity. Under veteran Nanbu-style toji Kuzumaki Fumio and a team of six, the brewery earned its first gold at the National New Sake Competition in 2014, three years after Kuzumaki joined.
