Tamanoi

Tamanoi is produced by Kanhokuto Shuzo, a brewery established in 1792 in Fukuoka Prefecture that originally named its sake Tamanoi in gratitude to the spring wells within the property, drawing water from the Kamagawa River aquifer of the Onga River watershed. The main brand Kanhokuto was later created at the request of local sake retailers who sought a sake that expressed Fukuoka's identity, leading to a name derived from the Hokuto Shrine nearby, where brewers offer prayers at the start of each cold-season brew. The brewery uses locally grown Yamada Nishiki rice to produce a clean, hand-crafted junmai with gentle aroma.
