Takiarashi is the flagship brand of Kouchi Shuzo, formed in 1944 through the merger of 28 sake breweries from Kochi City and its surroundings, with the brewery later relocating to the banks of the Nidoe River in pursuit of pristine water quality. The sake embodies the traditional Tosa style of light and dry (tanrei karakuchi) that Kochi Prefecture has long been celebrated for, and is a popular regional souvenir.
