Roman (written as Ro-man in the brand's rendering of 口万) is crafted by Hanaizumi Sake Brewery in Minamiaizu, Fukushima, a region that receives nearly two meters of snowfall each winter, and the name emerged because brewers would often say sake-making is a romance during production. Brewed with Aizu-grown rice and Fukushima-developed yeast through the traditional mochigome yondansikomi (four-stage glutinous rice) method, the lineup changes with the seasons to match the rhythms of the deep mountain year.
