Honjin

Senryu Shuzo has brewed sake in Emukae Town, Sasebo City, Nagasaki, since 1688, and is now led by the 13th generation of the Yamashita family. The name Honjin references the family's historical role operating a honjin inn for traveling feudal lords during the Edo period, a heritage embodied in their elegant estate known as Chinsuisha. The original yeast brewery building on the property is a designated tangible cultural property of Nagasaki Prefecture, and all sake is crafted using natural spring water from the brewery's own land.
