Shusenkurano Co., Ltd. was founded in 1540 and is recognized as the oldest sake brewery in Nagano Prefecture, with a history intertwined with the battles of Kawanakajima where Shingen Takeda and Kenshin Uesugi fought. The Genbu brand, known formally as Kawanakajima Genbu, was developed to reach a wider and younger audience alongside the brewery's long-established Katsura Masamune label. Gold medals at the National New Sake Appraisal attest to its quality, and female Toji Mariko Chino has played a key role in shaping the brewery's modern direction.
