Omotaka is a brand produced by Abekan Shuzo, a brewery founded in 1716 in Shiogama, Miyagi Prefecture, originally established by order of the Date clan to supply sacred offerings to Shiogama Shrine. For over three centuries the brewery has guided its sake philosophy around the principle of complementing and bringing out the best flavors in a meal. The Omotaka label represents the brewery's refreshing, approachable style, and since 2012 the full lineup has been unified under rice-varietal expressions that let each grain's distinct character take center stage.
