Kudamon is a brand of Wakanami Sake Brewery, founded in 1922 in Okawa City, Fukuoka Prefecture, on the banks of the Chikugo River. The brewery named its main brand Wakanami, meaning young wave, to evoke a livelier form of the great river's energy, and its sake is described as flavors that rush in and then recede in a refreshing manner. Wakanami is led by the only female toji in Fukuoka Prefecture, who has guided the brewery toward growing international recognition with an artisanal, locally rooted approach.
