Osawa Honke Sake Brewery, founded in 1770 in Nishinomiya, Hyogo, named the Takaramusume brand after a dream by its first-generation owner of a woman riding a treasure ship. Every batch is handcrafted using a Japanese earthenware steamer and box koji mold, with production quantities kept deliberately small so each sake receives the toji's direct attention. Unusually for Japan, the brewery focuses almost entirely on unfiltered, undiluted raw sake, born from a commitment to sharing the fresh taste traditionally known only to brewery workers.
