Masukagami Co., Ltd. was founded in 1892 in Kamo City, Niigata Prefecture, a historic town sometimes called Little Kyoto of Hokuetsu for its refined cultural character. The brewery is known for an unusually high standard of rice polishing even for its everyday sake, and its Alphabet Line series, where each label's number indicates the rice polishing ratio, has attracted devoted followings at Niigata sake events. Based in the Wakamiyacho shopping district of Kamo, Masukagami has remained committed to quality-driven production in one of Japan's most competitive sake regions.
