Kunimare

Founded in 1882 in Mashike-cho on Hokkaido's northwestern coast, Kunimare Sake Brewery holds the distinction of being Japan's northernmost sake producer. Soft, ultra-clean snowmelt water from the Sho-kanbetsu mountain range and a brewing tradition rooted in the Nanbu toji lineage underpin the brewery's core Kunimare label, which has been consumed almost entirely within Hokkaido across its history. The flagship Kitakai Onigara style, which has marked its 40th anniversary, represents the brewery's enduring expression of the cold-climate brewing character of the island.
