Midoriichi

Yoshida Shuzo, founded in 1697 in Ikeda, Osaka, is one of only two breweries still operating in a city once celebrated as the birthplace of Japanese refined sake. The Midoriichi brand name combines ryokushu, a classical term for premium clear sake, with the numeral one as a statement of pride in Ikeda's sake-making heritage, and the brewery has continued production despite its Kobe facilities being destroyed in the 1995 Great Hanshin Earthquake, now carrying out brewing in Hyogo's Kasai city.
