연혁

  1. 1873Founder Nakakichi Niizawa established Shinzawa Shoten.
  2. 1925Renamed the flagship brand to Atagonomatsu after an audience with the Prince Regent (later Emperor Showa), honoring the pines of Mt. Atago.
  3. 1950Incorporated as Niizawa Brewery Co., Ltd.
  4. 2002Began brewing Hakurakusei, named after the legendary horse Ikezuki of the Sanbongi region.
  5. 2005Hakurakusei Junmai Daiginjo began being served in Japan Airlines business class, and overseas exports started.
  6. 2011The brewery and family home were destroyed in the 2011 Tohoku earthquake; brewing was relocated 70km away to Kawasaki, Miyagi.
  7. 2018Nanami Watanabe was appointed toji (master brewer) at age 22, the youngest female toji in Japan.
  8. 2022Ranked No. 1 in the World's Best Sake Breweries and won IWC Sake Brewer of the Year.
