Established in 2017, Kamikawa Taisetsu Sake Brewery was Hokkaido's first new sake brewery since the postwar era, built in the small town of Kamikawa at the foot of the Taisetsu mountain range. The brewery aims to create 'sake you cannot help but drink repeatedly' using only Hokkaido-grown rice varieties such as Suisei, Kitashizuku, and Ginfu, alongside natural spring water from the surrounding highlands. Operating three breweries across the island, including additional sites in Tokachi and Hakodate, the brewery produces exclusively junmai sake in small batches, championing Hokkaido as a world-class sake-producing region.
