沿革

  1. 1791Matsumoto Jihei founded the brewery under the trade name 'Sawaya' in Yasaka Yumiya-cho, Kyoto, and began sake brewing after moving to Shichijo Honmachi.
  2. 1922Under the 7th-generation head Jihei, the brewery was relocated to its current headquarters site in Yokooji Misu-Daikoku-cho, Fushimi Ward, Kyoto.
  3. 1949On June 21, the company was reorganized as Matsumoto Shuzo Co., Ltd.
  4. 1983The storage warehouse was completed and designated a Kyoto City Historic Building of Distinctive Design.
  5. 2007Certified as a Heritage of Industrial Modernization by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and registered as a Tangible Cultural Property by the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
  6. 2018The rice-polishing warehouse (in-house rice polishing) was completed.
