沿革

1. 1838Sugii Sake Brewery founded (Tenpo 9) when Sugii Saisuke, a branch of the Sugii main family, started business in Takasu village (now Fujieda City).
2. 1910Records collected after the major flood of Meiji 43 (1910) include a note on a tax exemption for mirin due to flood damage, evidencing mirin production at the time.
3. 1965In Showa 40 (1965), began producing honjozo-shu; built a locally strong brand by making solidly quality sake in an era dominated by sanbaizojo-shu (triple-brewed sake).
4. 2000From 2000, the head of the company (6th generation, Kinnosuke Sugii) took over as toji, shifting to brewing centered on year-round employed staff.
5. 2001From Heisei 13 (2001), resumed producing moromi-tori shochu made from sweet potato and rice (kasutori shochu had been suspended since around Showa 50).
6. 2007From 2007, won gold at the National New Sake Awards for 9 consecutive years.
7. 2021In 2021, home use increased and the mirin 'Asukayama' became very popular.
