Naeba Shuzo is located in Tsunan Town, deep in the snow country of Niigata Prefecture, in the shadow of Mount Naeba, one of Japan's most celebrated peaks and the source of the brand name. The brewery traces its sake-making lineage to 1907 and was revived under current president Mitsuyoshi Shinbo after 2014, when a young master brewer named Shota Takeda began experimenting with one-stage brewing methods drawn from Edo-period records. Tsunan's pure snowmelt water and the surrounding rice-growing environment define the clean, regionally rooted character of Naebasan sake.
