Gonin Musume, meaning Five Daughters, was the first natural and organic sake made by 23rd-generation president Keisuke Terada of Terada Honke in 1985, named on the belief that a lively brewery filled with daughters creates joyous sake and that naturally brewed sake carries a daughter-like purity. Terada Honke, based in Chiba Prefecture and now led by the 24th generation, ferments exclusively with ambient yeast, house-cultivated koji, and organically farmed rice, producing all labels as unfiltered kimoto junmai.
