历史
1877
Founded in Meiji 10 (1877) in Nakatsugawa (former Fukuoka-cho), Gifu Prefecture, by Michisuke Yamada, the 4th-generation head of the local village headman family, who named the brewery 'Michizakura' after himself. The current head, Koji Yamada, is the 6th generation.
1985
Higashikawa, Hokkaido (the town Michizakura later relocated to) issued its 'Town of Photography' declaration.
2014
Higashikawa issued its 'Photography Culture Capital' declaration.
2019
Michizakura Shuzo applied for Higashikawa's public-built, privately-operated brewery program, proposing to build and operate the town's new sake brewery.
2020
In October 2020, after 143 years in Nakatsugawa, the brewery relocated roughly 1,550km to Higashikawa, Hokkaido, citing the aging facility and the effects of global warming on brewing conditions as the reasons for the move.
