Nakazawa Shuzo, founded in 1825 in Matsuda-cho, Kanagawa Prefecture at the foot of the Tanzawa mountains, celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2024 making it one of the longer-established breweries in the Kanto region. The Matsumidori brand is brewed with soft water from the Tanzawa mountain range and reflects the 11th-generation head brewer's commitment to junmai and nama-shu, with ongoing innovation in production methods. The Matsumidori Junmai Ginjo S.tokyo, named after a yeast discovered by a family ancestor, won Gold Prize at The Fine Sake Awards Japan in both 2021 and 2024.
