约创业于1700年(元禄年间),在1916年版《山形县酒造百科》中被记录为带动当地酿酒业发展的先驱。1983年与当地农户合作成立了高畠町酒米研究会,约半数的本地大米产区用于栽培酿酒米。酒藏追求清爽而有深度的口感,精心酿制"与餐食相伴的清酒"。
