- 1868In 1868, founder Reisaburo Hida began sake brewing in Shimoge, in the northern part of Buzen Province (present-day Nakatsu, Oita).
- 1958Six breweries in the Shimoge area — Nagayoshi, Sagara, Mihozuru, Itten, Takeyoshi, and the founding Yabamasamune Shuzo — merged in July 1958 to form Nishinihon Meijo Co., Ltd., a joint bottling company, later renamed Nishinohomare Meijo Co., Ltd.
