- 1909Kumamoto Prefectural Sake Brewing Research Institute founded to improve the quality of local sake.
- 1918Registered as a joint-stock company.
- 1919Nojiro Kinichi joined as chief engineer.
- 1922Sake brewing operations began in earnest.
- 1930Received a top award at the National New Sake Awards.
- 1952Successfully isolated and cultured Kumamoto yeast.
- 1968Began nationwide distribution as Association No. 9 yeast.
