Founded in 1855 by the Hagiwara family in Sakai Town, Ibaraki Prefecture, Hagiwara Shuzo has kept the same traditional brewery buildings while pursuing continuous improvement. The name Tokumasamune draws from the phrase sake virtue, reflecting the idea that sake accompanies every joy and sorrow in life. The brewery won gold at the 10th International Sake Challenge in the daiginjo category and introduced membrane degassing technology to preserve the freshness of their namazake.
