Okura

Founded in 1896 in Kashiba City, Nara Prefecture, Okura Honke has brewed sacred sake for local shrines since its earliest days and upholds yamahai brewing methods across its entire range, from ginjo to everyday sake. The brewery grows its own Hinohikari rice and uses a mizumoto preparation similar to the ancient bodaimoto technique, emphasizing total control from rice cultivation through fermentation. Now led by fourth-generation brewer Takahiko, the house has accumulated Gold Medals at national appraisals while maintaining its identity as a deeply traditional Nara brewery.
