Honjozo milled to 68% from Gohyakumangoku and Maihime rice, brewed by Homare Sake Brewery in Kitakata, Fukushima, using ultra-soft water sourced from the Iide Mountains, a Heisei-era designated National Water of Excellence. Dry in orientation with the characteristic umami of Aizu sake, it earned recognition as a gift from Prime Minister Abe to world leaders at the 2016 Ise-Shima Summit.
