Morishima Shuzo, founded in 1869 in the port town of Kawajiri in Ibaraki Prefecture, brews its sake just 30 meters from the Pacific Ocean, drawing mineral-rich water from the Abukuma mountain range deep underground. The Morishima brand was launched in 2019, bearing an image of Oya stone that survived the 2011 earthquake as a symbol of resilience, and has since earned recognition at the Australian Sake Awards including Gold and People's Choice honors.
