Sotenden

Otokoyama Honten in Kesennuma, Miyagi Prefecture, founded in 1912, launched its Sotenden brand in 2002 to create a sake that embodied the refreshing clarity above Kesennuma's blue sky. Sourcing over 80 percent of its rice from Miyagi growers, including the prefecture's first-ever sake-specific variety Kura no Hana, the brewery established Sotenden's elegant, crisp, and subtly fruity character under the guidance of chief brewer Shohei Kamada from 2005. Sotenden Daiginjo earned gold medals at both the Fine Sake Awards Japan and the Annual Japan Sake Awards in 2018, and the following year claimed the Miyagi Daiginjo Trophy at London's International Wine Challenge.
