Named after an auspicious event in 1906 when a morning star reflected from a sacred mirror into a cup of sake, Kakuboshi Co., Ltd. has carried that founding story into its Mizutoriki brand, brewed in the fishing city of Kesennuma, Miyagi Prefecture. The brewery's philosophy is captured in the phrase that its sake's aroma and taste are 'not too prominent,' designed to complement the fresh seafood of the region without overpowering it. Mizutoriki has earned gold and platinum medals in the Junmai Daiginjo category at the Kura Master competition in Paris in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
