沿革
- 1725Founded (Kyoho 10). Brewed sake by lending and borrowing brewing licenses (kabu).
- 1847Wajiki town had two brewers, east (Matsuura family, "Higashiyamaya") and west (Matsuda family, "Nishiyamaya"); the brewer Matsuura Sanuemon held a 70-koku brewing license.
- 1870Matsuura Sanuemon changed his name to Matsuura Sakiji.
- 1883Sakiji's son Yoshitaro took over and brewed under the brand names "Shorei" and "Wakamatsu."
- 1948Naka Shuzo Co., Ltd. (Yugen Kaisha) was established on March 16.
- 1968Production reached about 1,000 koku, with bulk (oke-uri) sake sold to brewers in the Nada region.
- 1980Stopped bulk sales to Nada; production scaled down to about 100 koku.
- 1988Switched to all-junmai production at about 40 koku, a scale that continues today.
