Izumo Furusato is brewed by Takeshitahonten (KK Takeshitahonten), a brewery founded in 1866 in Kakehashi, Unnan City, Shimane Prefecture, a district also known as the birthplace of Japan's 74th Prime Minister Noboru Takeshita. The brewery operated for over 150 years under the shop name Miyanakaiya before transferring its sake operations in 2022 and dissolving in 2023. The Izumo Furusato brand reflects the brewery's deep ties to the Izumo region's heritage and its role as a local sake producer across generations.
