Fukugen Shuzou was established in 1758 in Ikeda Town, nestled against the Northern Japan Alps in Nagano Prefecture, where underground water of a clarity that has impressed geologists flows from the mountains into the brewery's well. Operating as a boutique producer, Fukugen keeps output deliberately small to maintain a standard that has earned top honors at the National Sake Appraisal and recognition at the International Wine Challenge. The brewery cultivates its own Yamadanishiki rice in the Azumino Ikeda fields and uses no rice grown outside its own land.
