1. 1760The main house burned down in the great fire of July 1760 (Horeki 10) and was rebuilt afterward; the surviving thatched-roof main house dates from this rebuilding.
2. 1761Horeki-gura, the oldest surviving sake storehouse on the property, was built as a brewing warehouse.
3. 1800Kansei-gura was built as a rice storehouse; it later became the Kaya Shirao Memorial Hall and the Yumeji Art Gallery.
4. 1859Sakai Ryonosuke, the 15th generation of the Sakai family, was born in Shimo-Togura village, Shinano Province; the Sakai family had run the local sake brewing business for generations.
5. 1866Keio-gura, a brewing warehouse with a rice-washing area, boiler room, and koji room, was built.
6. 1982A large collection of valuable materials belonging to the haiku poet Kaya Shirao was discovered on the second floor of Kansei-gura.
7. 1983The Kaya Shirao Memorial Hall, the only one of its kind in Japan, opened inside Kansei-gura.
