Histoire
1869
Eisen Shuzo was founded by Miyamori Eishiro (Meiji 2). The brand name 'Eisen' derives from a Chinese legend about washing one's ears in the Ei River to avoid worldly fame, reflecting a wish to create sake whose taste would surpass mere reputation.
2018
Founder Shunsuke Koike established Tenkyo Co., Ltd., integrating the whisky-producing Tenkyo Distillery with the sake-producing Eisen Shuzo under a single alcohol manufacturing and sales company.
2019
The founder revisited Scotland, touring more than 60 distilleries, and resolved to build a world-class distillery in Aizu-Bandai.
2024
Six years after the initial concept, the Tenkyo Distillery began distillation in Aizu-Bandai, Fukushima.
