KID is the flagship brand of Heiwa Shuzo, founded in 1928 in Wakayama Prefecture, where cold morning and evening temperatures in an inland basin create conditions unusual for the region's warm climate. The name combines Kishu (the historical name for Wakayama) with fudo (natural environment), while also evoking the playful energy of a child. Heiwa Shuzo created KID to bring sake's appeal to a new generation of drinkers, with some expressions using the gentle Binkan Hiire pasteurization method to preserve freshness and aroma.
