Sanwa Shuzou in Shizuoka City traces its roots to 1686, and the Garyubai brand takes its name from a legendary plum tree growing in the temple of Seiken-ji near the brewery. Departing from the typically restrained Shizuoka style, Garyubai aims for vivid aroma, clear-cut flavor, and a crisp finish, backed by sourcing more than ten varieties of contract-grown brewing rice from across Japan.
