Bunraku ist die Gründungsmarke der Kitanishi Sake Brewery, die 1894 in Ageo, Saitama, von Kameichi Kitanishi gegründet wurde, der den Sake nach dem traditionellen Puppentheater benannte, das er liebte, und eine Parallele zwischen der dreistimmigen Harmonie der Bunraku-Aufführung und dem Brauen zog. Mit mittelhartem Wasser aus dem Chichibu-Gebirgssystem produziert die Brauerei sauberen, speisefreundlichen Sake hauptsächlich im junmai-Stil und exportiert Bunraku derzeit in mehr als zwanzig Länder. Die Marke erhielt eine Goldmedaille beim nationalen Neusake-Wettbewerb und Anerkennung beim IWC im Jahr 2019.
