Meilensteine

  1. 1751Began brewing sake on the fifth street of Echizen-Ono, under the shop name 'Maruya' and the brand 'Kamenoo'.
  2. 1944Forced to suspend brewing due to wartime industry consolidation controls.
  3. 1957Revived the brewery and began producing sake again under the new brand 'Manatsuru'.
  4. 1989Ahead of other breweries, converted its entire production to premium designated-class sake.
  5. 1991Began long-term aging of sake in the deep underground tunnels of the former Churyu mine.
  6. 1995Released what is said to be the world's first sherry-cask-aged daiginjo, drawn straight from the cask.
  7. 2010The fifth-generation owner, Keisuke Izumi, also took on the role of toji (master brewer).
  8. 2018Released a 20-year aged sake, among other products.
